CMP, selected as a constituent of "FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index",

ESG-investment index

We, Chugoku Marine Paints, Ltd. (CMP) are pleased to announce that we have recently been selected as a constituent of the "FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index".

FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index, built by FTSE Russell, a global index provider, is designed to be sector-neutral, with indexes reflecting the performance of Japanese companies that are relatively good in terms of environmental, social and governance (ESG) responses in each respective sector. In order to promote the transition to a low-carbon economy, only those companies that are evaluated for their improvement efforts based on TPI management quality scores are included if they are considered as companies with particularly high greenhouse gas emissions.

The key message of CMP's long-term vision toward the year 2030 is to become a "Leading global niche company distinguished by sustainability and high profitability" and to become the world's top company, both in terms of its share of marine paint sales and its contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from ships by supplying antifoulings for ship bottoms, a core element of its business. In addition, “CMP New Century Plan 2” (FY2021-2025), a medium-term management plan designed to realise its long-term vision, upholds its most important theme, “Expand value to provide through environmental and social contributions” as a top priority.

We will continue to promote sustainable management in line with these management policies and aim to maximize both social and economic value.
