■About CMP BIOCLEAN
Our silicone foul-release coatings are widely used on ships and in power plant, etc. CMP BIOCLEAN was developed in 2004 based on the concept of reducing environmental impact. It is a foul-release coating with excellent environmental performance that keeps ship bottoms clean by utilising the high water repellency and elasticity that are the characteristics of special silicone resins. It also forms an ultra-smooth coating surface, which reduces water friction resistance during navigation and contributes to reduced fuel consumption.
■About ASUKA
The NYK Group is promoting the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel, which significantly reduces CO2, NOx and SOx emissions compared to conventional marine fuels, as part of its efforts to decarbonise its fleet. Asuka is the first LNG- powered cruise ship in Japan, and is also equipped with an onshore power receiving system to reduce CO2 emissions when docked in port, in consideration of reducing the environmental burden.
CMP BIOCLEAN is a foul-release coating that utilises the surface properties of silicone resin to prevent marine organisms from adhering to the ship's bottom. It forms a smooth coating film with low water flow friction resistance, which is expected to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
We believe that the product concept of CMP BIOCLEAN matched the company's ESG management policy and the ASUKA's design concept, which led to its adoption.
